The Sri Lanka Foundation Academy of Performing Arts (SLF APA) has begun accepting students for the 2024 school year. The school held its annual enrollment event on January 14th, 2024, and warmly welcomed a new batch of students with great enthusiasm and pride. This year, the school had its highest number of enrollments of any previous year.
Parents and prospective students had the opportunity to meet with currently enrolled students and teachers to get familiarized with how the school operates and the benefits of learning Sri Lankan cultural dance. The APA teachers all gave very encouraging and insightful speeches to further elaborate on how cultural dance enriches ones life and applies to all aspects of life. APA past graduates and existing students also addressed those in attendance and shared their experiences.
The event began with the Director of the Academy of Performing Arts, Achala Weerasinghe, warmly welcoming the student body, parents, and participants. This was followed by welcome speeches from the Chairman, Dr. Walter Jayasinghe, the CEO, Dr. Dishan Jayasinha, and the Senior Dance Teacher, Umendra Kahadawaarachchi.
The video presentation captured the essence of what the APA stands for and showed successful workshops, cultural events, and dance performances organized by the SLF APA. In particular, one of the videos announced the partnership SLF has with MMC TV, which increases the exposure and reach of the SLF APA globally.
The event ended with an awards presentation for all who participated in Sri Lanka Day 2023. Each participating student was presented a certificate by Dr. Walter Jayasinghe and Aeshea Jayasinghe acknowledging their performance. See the photo gallery HERE
The SLF APA is an accredited school and was first accredited in 2019 by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, an official institutional accreditor of the U.S. Department of Education.
The school invites prospective students to enroll for 2024. Classes are available online and in-person on Sundays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Students can actively participate in creating, interpreting, and showcasing original art influenced by Sri Lanka’s dynamic culture.
