Young Sri Lankan singer Yohani Diloka de Silva will be recognized for her recent achievement with a state award, prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided.
This has been confirmed by state Minister for national heritages Vidura Wickramanayake while speaking in parliament, and also by ministry secretary Prof. Kapila Gunawardena.
Yohani rose to global fame with her cover version of ‘Menike Mage Hithe’, reaching nearly 140 million views and drawing the attention of several international artists, including the likes of Amithabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.
She also recorded the title track of the upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Shiddat’ starring Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan.
Yohani is presently on tour in India.
