Sri Lankans make up the top 2% of the world’s best scientists

According to the metrics of Stanford University, USA, 24 Sri Lankan scientists have barged into the top 2% of the world’s best scientists.
Among them, there comes the names of the illustrious scientists in Sri Lanka, Prof. Neelika Malavige, who is a leading researcher on dengue, and COVID-19, Prof. Meththika Vithanage, whose research approach builds on environmental science: key/ emerging pollutants in the environment, assess their fate and transport and remediate those using geo/ nano/ biomaterials and Dr Anushka U, Rajapaksha whose research interests are built around environmental remediation using low-cost sorbents, geochemical investigations of essential trace elements.
There are 24 scientists ranked in this World’s Top 2% Scientists list from various institutes:
These institutes include the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, International Water Management Institute, University of Peradeniya, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, and the University of Jaffna.
