The Sri Lankan Youth Organization (SLYO) had their very first SLYO Baila Night in celebration of the New Year. Sri Lankan Americans and Angelenos of all ages gathered together to ring in the New Year at Beat Box Studios in Los Angeles on December 31, 2017. The live band kept everyone one their feet with performances by Gayan Perera, Cinesh Fernando, Charitha Attalage and DJ Outlost. Nalinda and Dilhan from Bheri showcased their drums and kept the crowd on their feet.

This was a first from SLYO and all members joined together to make this event a success. They were a apart of every aspect of the event from deco to organization. Everyone enjoyed dancing the night away to Baila music and enjoyed a scrumptious Kottu dinner from Baja Sub. All funds raised at the event will be donated to build a special needs classroom in Sri Lanka.

Since 2011 SLYO has been bringing together Sri Lankan American Youth and organizing events to help Sri Lanka. Today they have 7 chapters around the world. Their goal is to shape the way young Sri Lankan expats live their lives and teach them the fundamentals of social responsibility, healthy living and cultural acceptance.
