In celebration of Vesak Sri Lanka Foundation displayed seven beautiful lighted lotus flower lanterns in front of the Sri Lanka Foundation building. It is said that immediately after his birth Prince Siddhartha Gautama stood up and took seven steps and with each step, a lotus flower bloomed. The beautiful pink lotus lanterns made many spectators stop and learn about Vesak. For Sri Lankan Americans it took us down memory lane to the times we made “vesak kuudu” with family. Preethi Vesak!
