We are so excited to have been able to celebrate Sri Lanka Day 2023 with so many Sri Lankan communities across the globe! This year, we held our yearly event virtually with hosted Watch Parties around the US, and performances were presented from countries like France, Japan, Chile, Australia, and the UK, to name a few.
It was exciting to see and connect with all of the fantastic artists who love Sri Lanka as much as we do. The event was featured Live on YouTube, allowing thousands of people to tune in and watch.
The show commenced with the USA National Anthem and the Sri Lankan National Anthem. Speeches were then presented, followed by the featured performances, which displayed the beautiful artistic colors and sounds of Sri Lanka. The unique and one-of-a-kind costume designs of the traditional Sri Lankan dresses that were worn, along with the sounds and remarkable dance movements that were experienced, were truly enjoyed. The event also featured a beautiful fashion show and performances from our very own Sri Lanka Foundation Academy of Performing Arts.
We held our very own Watch Party for our Sri Lankan community in Los Angeles, California. We were so pleased to see our community together enjoying the live event. While we watched Sri Lanka Day, many enjoyed the traditional Sri Lankan foods and digital photo booth with traditional Sri Lankan costume props. We also had a face-painting booth for children and a raffle for all viewers who were watching the event. We held a live performance by one of our Academy of Performance Arts instructors, and we ended our event by acknowledging some of the members of our community. The Watch Parties held across the United States made our event even more exciting! We partnered with other organizations that held their own event for their communities from states like Indiana, Florida, New York, and Ohio, to name a few.
