‘SPACE 2019’ CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION

A group of women artistes, graduates of the University of Visual and Performing Arts, featured their collaborative and inclusive annual arts exhibition for the 6th consecutive year to mark ‘International Women’s Day,’ on March 8, 2019 at the J.D.A. Perera Gallery, Colombo 7.

They put on exhibit a considerable variety of paintings, prints, sculptures, installations and performances to feature what they experience and feel as Sri Lankan women.

Amitha Indirani, Dammika Sudarshani, Harsha Manojani, Inoka Herath, Janaki Nadeeshani, Janani Cooray, Lakshika Hewage, Lasanthi Kaluthantrie, Manori Gamachchige, Niluka Weerasinghe, Sajeewani Hewawitharana, Sumudu Irangika, Tharanga Gayathri, Veena Beauty and Wilasini Dissanayake presented their work interpreting in powerful visual terms the meaning of ‘FREEDOM’ as experienced by them.

‘SPACE 2019’ exhibition was curated by Janani Cooray and held from March 8 to 10.
