With the fall weather in town, Sri Lanka Foundation brought together kids of all ages from around California for the second successful ‘Family Fun Day on a Sunday – Halloween Carnival. The colorful carnival was held at Brookside Park in Pasadena on Sunday October 23rd, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm.
Halloween revels of all ages came together as princesses, superheroes, ninjas, draculas and witches for a fun filled afternoon.
Children enjoyed various types of carnival games, rode on ponies, got up close with llamas, rabbits and speedy the tortoise at the petting zoo. They had their faces painted, made jack-o -lanterns at the arts & crafts booth, made ballon animals with Mr. Funn at his magic show and made bubbles with a clown on stilts.
‘The Scary Hospital’ (haunted house) put together by the SLF Performing Arts Center was an amazing sight. Attendees made their way through the spooky graveyard and was welcomed by a grimm reaper. Then the walk through the hospital was spooky and heart pounding with zombies, psychotic patients, monsters and one very scary doctor.
Mr. Rohan Mendis kept the atmosphere festive with hits like “Thriller”, “Jack-o-lantern” and “I’m a little ghostie.” The kids were enthralled with the 100 foot colorful bouncer which kept them on their toes until the end of the day. The evening culminated with a costume parade for the kids, who looked pretty awesome in their cutest, scariest, and funniest costumes, for which three little ones won the hearts of the judges and took away the reward.
We would like to thank all parents for bringing their kids along for the event, even with their busy schedule, the kids who had a blast and entertained themselves , and last but not least our volunteers, who without their unstinted service would not have made it a success it was!!!
