Amidst a standing ovation Dr. Walter Jayasinghe received the “Philanthropist of the Year” award at the Sri Lanka Medical Association North America-west’ biennial fundraiser “A Night of Hope.”  Dr. Jayasinghe was bestowed this award for his desire to promote the welfare of others, generosity, kindness and humanitarianism.
The lavish gala was held at the prestigious Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on October 1, 2016. Proud Sri Lankan American physicians and their friends gathered together to raise funds to purchase critical life saving medications for children with cancer in Sri Lanka and to raise funds for a community resource center at the National Council for Mental Health Sri Lanka.
The biennial event was held after a series of eight lectures where physicians received their continuing education credits. Through the years Sri Lankan Medical Association North America  has raised funds for various medical projects in Sri Lanka. For more pictures Click Here
