FIRST AND FOREMOST WE THANK ALL THE DONORS FOR THEIR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THIS PROJECT!!
On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, Sri Lanka Foundation, International, USA initiated a zoom meeting advised by the Medical Director of SLF, Dr Deepthi Jayasekera and also Dr Dushyantha Jayaweera to meet with the doctors leading the project in Sri Lanka as well as other Sri Lankan Organizations and a supplier of HDU Equipment vendor to get a plan in place to move on to the next step.
All participants were Greeted & Introduced by Keshini Wijegoonaratna, the Director of Project Management & Public Relations, and right after she introduced Shirani Stanislaus, the Chief Operating Officer of SLF to convey the opening remarks.
Dr Deepthi Jayasekera, the Medical Director of SLF took over the meeting platform as the moderator to facilitate the important items to be presented, with Dr Deepthi’s supporting remarks of the COVID Relief Efforts Project, followed by Dr Dushyantha Jayaweera confirming the urgency of providing the HDU Medical Equipment to the Kalubowila and Gampaha Hospitals without further delay.
Prof Saroj Jayasinghe, educated everyone of the shortage of equipment, Dr Harsha Sathischandra, the President of Sri Lanka College of Internal Medicine, updated the overall situation giving us a clear picture of how fast the new variant was spreading.
Dr Nandaa Dikmadugoda and Dr Ruwanthi Perera presented slides of the Kalubowila Hospital to present evidence of the shortage of equipment that could have saved lives and statistics of the current COVID Cases.
The meeting continued with other Sri Lankan Organizations agreeing to get more involved to raise funds as they are now aware and realized the urgency in this project.
The HDU Medical Equipment vendor assured to SLF and other organizations that they will provide the best quality equipmet as well as the best price to the Kalubowila and Gampaha Hospitals.
The meeting ended with the agreement from all organizations to transfer the funds collected to start purchasing the equipment and also to continue to raise funds to help the other hospitals.
