Rakitha Malewana, a student from Nalanda College in Colombo, who developed a new method to cure HIV/AIDS, called on President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence.
President Sirisena congratulated the students who brightened the name of Motherland by discovering this new medicine.
He also wished for his future endeavours and pledged to provide state patronage for him to conduct his research activities.
Scientists participated in the International Science Project Olympiad (ISPrO) Jakarta, Indonesia praised the Rakitha Malewana’s method which used Nano technology to control the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Another Sri Lankan student along with Rakitha Malewana managed to bag two gold medals out of four gold medals presented at the ISPr Jakarta, Indonesia.
Rakitha Malewana told President that he has no desire to enter into a foreign university, but wish to enter into the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University to do further studies and research.
